Watch a refurb on our rig — 24 seconds
Real footage from our rig: soot and ash blasted out of every cell, flow-tested, restored to as-new condition. This is the whole job — no foam cans, no guesswork.
We don’t clean DPFs. We refurbish them.
A “clean” is what everyone else sells — foam through a pipe, or a hot run round the block. It shifts some soot and leaves the ash.
Every filter that comes to Symonis is refurbished off the car: removed, machine-washed until the soot AND the mineral ash are out of every cell, flow-tested against as-new figures, and refitted with the turbo checked. That’s why we can put up to a 30-month warranty behind it — and why nobody selling a “clean” can.

DPF refurbishment, step by step
Diagnose & remove
Full scan first, then the filter comes off the car. If the real fault is a sensor or the turbo, you hear it now, not after paying for a clean.
Machine wash & flow-test
The unit goes through the wash rig: soot and ash out, dried, then flow-tested against as-new figures. You get the readings.
Refit & road test
Refitted with the turbo and sensors checked, regeneration verified, road-tested. Fixed price, agreed before we started.

Sound familiar? Your filter’s asking for this.
- DPF light keeps coming backCleans and regens shift soot; the returning light is the ash still in there.
- Stuck in limp modePower capped to protect the engine. Drive it in, carefully.
- Quoted £1,000+ for a new DPFGet the second opinion first — most “dead” filters refurbish for a fraction of that.
- Mobile clean didn’t holdIt never could — here’s the honest reason why.
- Down on power, up on fuelA choked filter makes the engine work against itself.
- Short-trip drivingSchool runs and the North Circular crawl never get the filter hot enough to self-clean.
Why pay £1,000+ for a new DPF?
Dealers quote four figures for a replacement filter because replacing is all they offer. A refurbished DPF flows like a new one, carries our warranty, and costs a fraction of that. If your filter is genuinely beyond saving (cracked substrate, melted core), we’ll show you the evidence and say so before you spend anything.
Two ways in: drive the car to Brent Cross and we remove, refurbish and refit — or bring just the unit if it’s already off and pay less. Workshops: there’s a dedicated trade service.

Refurb questions
How much does DPF refurbishment cost?
From £250 with the car, less if you bring just the unit — against £1,000+ for a new filter at a dealer. The exact number is fixed and agreed before any work starts. All three prices are on the cost page, including the cheaper fixes if your filter turns out not to need the full refurbishment.
How long does a refurbishment take?
The off-car wash, dry and flow-test take several hours, so most refurbs are same-day or next-day depending on the morning’s bookings. Bare units dropped off are usually ready to collect within the day. We confirm the honest turnaround with your quote.
Is a refurbished DPF really as good as new?
On flow, yes: the wash removes the soot and ash that were choking it, and the flow-test proves it against as-new figures before it goes back on. What refurbishment can’t fix is physical damage, a cracked or melted core. We check for that first and tell you straight if we find it.
Why not just get it cleaned?
Because no clean — foam, fluid or forced regen — can remove ash, and ash is what actually kills filters. A clean rents you some time; a refurbishment resets the filter. That’s why we don’t sell cleans, and why the warranty gap is 6 months versus 30.
What does the warranty cover?
Re-blocking, for up to 30 months or 40,000 miles depending on the vehicle and how it’s used. Terms are agreed in writing with your fixed quote before any work starts.
Do I have to bring the car?
No — if the filter’s already off, bring just the unit and pay less: no removal or refit labour. It’s deep-cleaned, flow-tested and ready to collect with its report. Workshops use the trade service for exactly this.
Do you do HGV, van or fleet filters?
Cars and vans, yes. For HGV and larger units, call us with the part details and we’ll confirm what the rig takes. Fleet and trade enquiries welcome.
How do I pay?
Card, bank transfer or cash, when the work’s done. The price you pay is the fixed price we agreed before starting — no extras invented mid-job.
